Your name is on the final list. Now what? Many newly selected interns lose their seat because they reach the school late, carry the wrong documents, or do not complete the agreement on time. This guide walks you through the complete STI joining process for the 2026-27 session, from the day your name appears to your first week in the classroom.
Under the Punjab School Education Department’s September 2026 notification, internship agreements for the current session run until 31 May 2027. Fresh interns selected against vacant posts will follow the STI joining process below for the remaining period of this session. Official notices are published on the STI portal and the School Education Department Punjab website.

Step 1: Confirm Your Selection
The first step of the STI joining process is to make sure you are actually selected and note the school name and level. Check your status on the official portal and the school notice board. Our STI result 2026-27 guide explains every place where the final list is displayed.
- Note the school name, EMIS code (if shown), level and subject of your post.
- Note the reporting date and time. Joining windows are usually short.
- If you are selected at more than one school, decide quickly and join only one.
If you cannot log in to check your status, use our STI login password reset guide.
Do Not Wait for a Call
Schools and education offices may not call every selected candidate. If your name is on the list, it is your responsibility to start the STI joining process on time. Missing the reporting date can let the school offer the seat to the next candidate on merit.
Step 2: Prepare Your Joining Documents
Carry originals plus one set of attested photocopies of the following STI joining documents:
| Document | Why It Is Needed |
|---|---|
| CNIC | Identity and age verification |
| Punjab domicile | District eligibility |
| Matric and Intermediate certificates | Verification of marks used in merit |
| Bachelor’s / Master’s / BS degree and transcripts | Qualification and subject match |
| B.Ed / M.Ed / ADE (if any) | Professional qualification marks |
| Passport-size photographs (4-6) | Agreement and records |
| Bank account details in your own name | Monthly stipend payment |
| Medical fitness certificate (if asked) | Some districts may require it |

See the full list with tips in our STI required documents article. Any mismatch between your documents and the marks you entered online can stop your STI joining process, so double-check everything.

Step 3: Sign the Agreement and Submit Joining Report
STI is an internship, so you will sign an internship agreement with the school or education authority instead of receiving a regular appointment letter. The agreement usually includes:
- Your name, CNIC, school and level of post
- Internship period (until 31 May 2027 for this session)
- Monthly stipend amount
- Duties, attendance and leave rules
- Conditions for ending the internship
Read it carefully before you sign. After signing, submit your STI joining report to the head teacher. You can use our ready STI joining letter format (DOC/PDF). Keep a signed copy of the agreement and joining report for yourself.
Stipend After Joining
Monthly stipend is Rs. 38,000 for primary, Rs. 40,000 for elementary and Rs. 45,000 for high and higher secondary posts. The first payment can take some time while your data and bank details are processed. Read our STI stipend 2026-27 guide for payment details.
Step 4: Your First Week at School
The STI joining process does not end at the office door. Make a good first impression with these simple steps:
- Meet the head teacher and get your timetable and classes.
- Mark attendance daily as per school rules. Read our guide on STI attendance, duties and school rules.
- Prepare lesson plans for your first week’s topics.
- Attend any orientation or training arranged by the district. See our STI teacher training schedule.
- Keep your phone and email active for official messages.
Common Joining Problems and Solutions
- School says it has no information: Politely request the head teacher to contact the AEO or DDEO office, and visit the office yourself with your documents.
- Marks mismatch found: Bring the original result cards. Small typing errors can sometimes be corrected at the office, but large differences can cancel the selection.
- Name missing at joining time: Check the final list again and read our guide on why names go missing from STI lists.
Rules to Follow During Your Internship
Completing the STI joining process is only the first step. To complete your internship smoothly and keep receiving your stipend, follow these basic rules:
- Be regular and punctual. Attendance is checked, and unexplained absence can affect your stipend or even end your internship.
- Follow the head teacher’s instructions about classes, timetable and school duties.
- Take leave properly. Inform the head teacher in advance and follow the leave rules written in your agreement.
- Keep records. Maintain lesson plans, the class diary and student assessment records.
- Behave professionally with students, parents and staff. Corporal punishment is not allowed in Punjab schools.
Experience Certificate at the End
When your internship ends on 31 May 2027, ask the head teacher for an experience certificate. This document is valuable for future teacher recruitment and for private school jobs. You can use our STI experience certificate format as a reference. Keep copies of your agreement, joining report and stipend records with it.
Existing Interns: Fresh Agreement
If you were already working as an STI, you do not need to apply again. The department has approved fresh agreements so current interns can continue from 24 August 2026 to 31 May 2027. Read our STI fresh agreement 2026-27 update and contact your head teacher to complete the paperwork.
FAQs About the STI Joining Process
Will I get a joining letter as an STI?
You sign an internship agreement and submit a joining report. These documents serve as your record of joining.
How many days do I get to join after selection?
It depends on your district’s schedule. In the last cycle, appointment orders were issued one day after the final list, so report as soon as possible.
Can I change my school after joining?
STI placement is school-specific. Transfers are generally not part of the program, so choose your school carefully while applying. Our tips on choosing the best school for STI posting can help next time.
Does STI joining make me a permanent teacher?
No. STI is a temporary paid internship. It gives you valuable teaching experience, which can help you later in regular teacher recruitment.
