The CTI 2026-27 induction is one of the biggest teaching opportunities in Punjab this year. Check Your CTI Eligibility
Enter your details below. The checker applies the official criteria listed on the CTI portal for the 2026-27 academic session.
Criteria taken from the official CTI portal for the 2026-27 academic session, checked on 29 September 2026. Final eligibility is decided by the Higher Education Department.
Official CTI Eligibility Criteria for 2026-27
The CTI portal lists the following criteria for the induction of College Teaching Interns for the 2026-27 academic session.
Age limit
Candidates must be 40 years or younger on the closing date of applications.
Academic qualification
The requirement depends on the type of college:
- Associate colleges: a Master’s degree or BS (four-year) with at least second division in the relevant subject.
- Graduate colleges: an MS or MPhil (in the relevant subject preferred), along with a Master’s degree or BS (four-year) with at least second division in the relevant subject.
This means a 14-year BA or BSc is not enough for CTI. If that is your highest qualification, the school-level STI programme may be a better fit. Our STI vs CTI comparison explains the differences.

CTI Merit Formula 2026-27
Merit is calculated out of 100 marks:
| Component | Marks |
|---|---|
| Educational qualification | 85 |
| Prior performance as CTI (2025-26) | 10 |
| Interview | 5 |
Two changes are worth noting. First, the portal says the old slab system for semester or yearly marks has been replaced with percentage-based marks, so your actual percentage now matters more. Second, the 10 marks for prior performance reward interns who served in 2025-26. This fits the new policy under which CTIs with satisfactory evaluations can be retained without full re-recruitment, as explained in our report on the CTI contract extension and new rules.
For first-time applicants, qualification carries almost the entire weight. A strong percentage in your Master’s or BS is the single biggest factor in your merit position.
How Many CTI Jobs Are Available?
When we checked the official portal on 29 September 2026, it showed 9,443 available jobs. The Higher Education Department has proposed recruiting more than 9,000 CTIs, and the Finance Department has approved Rs4 billion to pay them. The recruitment summary was pending at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat at the time of the latest report. Read more in our report on Rs4 billion for CTI salaries.
For comparison, 7,354 CTIs were engaged in 2024-25 and 8,084 in 2025-26, according to TechJuice. If the proposed intake is approved, 2026-27 would be the largest round so far.
CTI Stipend: What Has Been Reported
The stipend for 2026-27 has not been confirmed in any official document we could review, and past reports have given different figures:
- A TechJuice report from August 2026 said CTIs received Rs50,000 per month in the last two sessions.
- An October 2025 report cited Rs65,000 for BS-level and Rs55,000 for intermediate-level interns.
The same August 2026 report said contracts ran for up to seven months for intermediate classes and up to ten months for BS programmes. Treat these as indications only. The official terms for 2026-27 will be set by HED.
How to Apply for CTI 2026-27
The process runs entirely through the official portal. Here is how to prepare:
- Visit cti-hep.punjab.gov.pk and register or log in.
- Create or update your profile. On 17 August 2026, HED announced that profile completion is a prerequisite and only candidates with completed profiles would move to the next phase.
- Enter your academic record as percentages, since slabs are no longer used.
- Check the available jobs by college and subject and apply according to the instructions on the portal.
- Watch the portal’s News & Highlights section for schedules, grievance phases and selection notices.
The portal also offers a video tutorial on how to apply online. If you face problems, the helpline is 042-99212260, and the HED office is at the Old DPI Building, opposite the Museum, New Anarkali Road, Lahore.
Quotas in the Last Cycle
In the 2025-26 round, reports mentioned special quotas, including 404 seats for minorities, 243 for persons with disabilities and 40 for the transgender community. The 2026-27 quota details have not yet been confirmed, so check the portal once jobs are finalised.
Important Points Before You Apply
- CTI is temporary. It provides teaching experience and a certificate but is not a regular government appointment.
- Use only the official portal. Ignore websites or agents asking for fees.
- Keep documents ready. Degrees, transcripts and CNIC should match what you enter online.
- Former CTIs should keep records of their 2025-26 evaluation, since prior performance now carries marks.
How to Improve Your Chances
Because qualification carries 85 marks, most of your merit is decided before you even apply. Still, there are practical steps that help:
- Apply in your strongest subject. Your degree must be relevant to the subject, and a higher percentage in that subject gives you a better position.
- Check multiple colleges. Competition varies by college and district. A college with fewer applicants in your subject may offer a better chance.
- Prepare for the interview. It carries only 5 marks, but in a close merit list those marks can decide the outcome. Practise explaining a topic from your subject clearly in a few minutes.
- Complete your profile early. Late or incomplete profiles have been a common reason for missing the next stage.
- Keep an eye on the grievance phase. In the last cycle, the portal announced a separate grievance committee phase. Use it if your data or merit is recorded incorrectly.
CTI or STI: Which Should You Choose?
Many candidates qualify for both programmes. The CTI places interns in colleges and generally requires a 16-year degree, while the STI places interns in schools and has different criteria. The stipend, contract length and workload also differ. If you are unsure, our STI vs CTI comparison includes a short quiz that suggests which programme suits your profile.
