One of the most searched questions about the College Teaching Interns programme is simple: how much will I be paid? For the 2026-27 session, the CTI stipend 2026-27 has been set at Rs 65,000 per month for interns below MPhil and Rs 75,000 per month for interns with MPhil or higher, paid through the bank. That is a clear jump from the Rs 50,000 that CTIs received in the last two sessions.
This guide explains the new CTI salary per month, how long you will be paid, how the payment works, how it compares with earlier years and with STI, and it includes a free CTI stipend calculator to estimate your total earnings for the full tenure.

CTI Salary Per Month in 2026-27
The Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab pays CTIs a fixed monthly stipend, not a salary on a pay scale. There is no BPS grade, no annual increment and no pension. For this session, the rate depends only on your highest qualification:
| Qualification | Monthly stipend 2026-27 |
|---|---|
| BS (4-year) / Master’s (16 years of education) | Rs 65,000 |
| MPhil / MS (18 years) | Rs 75,000 |
| PhD | Rs 75,000 |
These figures were shared along with the interview and joining schedule for 2026-27, citing an HED notification dated 21 October 2026. Earlier, the Punjab Finance Department approved around Rs 4 billion for CTI payments, as we reported in our CTI salaries news. Always keep a copy of your own offer letter, because the amount written there is what will be paid to you.
CTI Stipend Calculator 2026-27
Select your qualification, college type and joining date. The calculator estimates your monthly stipend, total tenure and the total amount you can expect if you serve the full period. Partial months are counted day by day.
For example, a BS-qualified intern in a graduate college who joins on 2 November 2026 and serves until 30 June 2027 can expect a little under Rs 5.2 lakh in total, while an MPhil holder in the same college can expect close to Rs 6 lakh.
How Long Will CTIs Be Paid
The stipend is paid only for the internship period. For 2026-27, the tenure is:
| College type | Start | End | Approx. months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Associate colleges | 2 November 2026 | 31 May 2027 | 7 |
| Graduate colleges | 2 November 2026 | 30 June 2027 | 8 |
The tenure can end earlier if regular lecturers join the college through the Punjab Public Service Commission, because CTIs are hired only to cover shortages. The internship does not give any right to regular appointment. However, good performance now carries weight: CTIs with satisfactory evaluations get up to 10 marks for prior performance in future merit lists, as covered in our CTI 2026-27 complete guide.
How the CTI Stipend Is Paid
The CTI salary is paid monthly through the bank. In earlier sessions, payment was made by crossed cheque or direct bank transfer through the college. In practice, the steps look like this:
- You join on 2 November 2026 and submit your joining report (see our CTI joining 2026 guide).
- The college sends your joining details and bank account information to the accounts office.
- Your attendance is verified at the end of each month.
- The stipend is transferred to your account, usually after the month is complete.
The first payment often takes longer than later ones because the college has to process new records. Do not panic if November’s stipend arrives late in December.
CTI Stipend: 2026-27 vs Previous Years
| Session | Monthly stipend |
|---|---|
| 2024-25 | Rs 50,000 |
| 2025-26 | Rs 50,000 |
| 2026-27 (below MPhil) | Rs 65,000 |
| 2026-27 (MPhil and above) | Rs 75,000 |
The 2026-27 increase is the first time a separate, higher rate has been offered for MPhil and PhD holders. This makes CTI more attractive for highly qualified candidates who are waiting for PPSC lecturer posts.
What Can Reduce Your Monthly CTI Stipend
The rate is fixed, but the amount that reaches your account in a given month can be lower than Rs 65,000 or Rs 75,000. These are the usual reasons:
- Late joining: If you join after 2 November, you are paid only for the days you actually served in that month.
- Unapproved absence: Days of absence beyond the allowed casual leave can be deducted.
- Early exit: If you resign, or a regular lecturer joins and your internship ends early, payment stops from that date.
- Incomplete record: A wrong CNIC, a joint bank account or a missing joining report can hold your payment until it is fixed.
- Official deductions: Ask the accounts office on day one whether any deduction applies, so your first payslip does not surprise you.
In short, serve the full month, keep your attendance clean and make sure your record is correct from the first day. That is the simplest way to receive the full CTI salary per month throughout your tenure.
CTI vs STI Stipend
Many candidates apply for both programmes. School Teaching Interns (STIs) under the School Education Department receive between Rs 38,000 and Rs 45,000 a month depending on school level, while CTIs in colleges now get Rs 65,000 to Rs 75,000. Eligibility, tenure and selection are also different. Read our full STI vs CTI comparison and the STI stipend 2026-27 guide for details.
Tips to Avoid Stipend Delays
- Give the college a bank account in your own name, matching your CNIC exactly.
- Submit your joining report on time and check that the portal shows your joining.
- Mark attendance daily and avoid unapproved leave.
- Keep copies of your offer, joining report and bank details in one file.
- If payment is late for more than one month, write to the principal and the accounts office together.
