Getting shortlisted is only half the journey. The STI interview is where many candidates win or lose their seat. In the last cycle, shortlisted candidates were interviewed on their qualifications, teaching skills and overall suitability, and the schedule from merit list to planned appointment orders was only about a week. With fresh STI hiring approved on 25 September 2026, now is the time to prepare.
This guide gives you the most common STI interview questions and answers 2026, subject-wise examples, a document list, dress code tips and a free mock interview tool.

What the STI Interview Looks Like
- Who interviews you: school-level hiring committees. Reports on the policy said selection involves Deputy DEOs, AEOs, the school head and the school council.
- What they check: your degree and marks, subject knowledge, how you would teach, and your attitude.
- How long: usually short, often 5 to 15 minutes per candidate.
- When: after the initial merit list and objections. In December 2025, interviews were held on 6 and 7 December.
The interview is simple, but the panel sees many candidates in a day. Clear, confident and practical answers make you stand out.

Subject-Wise Sample Questions
Expect one or two questions from your subject. The panel wants to see if you can explain simply, not if you can recite a textbook.
| Subject | Sample question | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| English | How will you teach tenses to Grade 6? | Use daily-life sentences and a simple timeline on the board |
| Mathematics | Explain fractions to a weak student. | Use a roti or chart paper cut into parts |
| Science | How do plants make food? | Explain photosynthesis with a real leaf and simple words |
| Urdu | How will you improve reading of a slow reader? | Short texts, reading aloud daily, praise progress |
| Islamiat | How will you teach respect for others? | Link to simple stories and classroom behaviour |
| Computer | What is an input device? | Give examples like keyboard and mouse, then ask students for more |
Practise explaining one topic from your subject in two minutes. It is the most common way panels test teaching skill.
