HBL Goes Live on Temenos Core Banking Platform in Major Digital Banking Upgrade

Habib Bank Limited has officially gone live with the new Temenos Core Banking platform as part of one of Pakistan’s biggest banking technology modernization projects.

The first phase of the system upgrade supports both conventional and Islamic banking services. Customer accounts from 200 HBL branches in Pakistan have already been shifted to the new banking platform.

The new system is expected to improve banking speed, digital services, and transaction processing. HBL says the project will eventually manage over 40 million customer accounts across its branch network.

According to officials, the upgraded platform will process nearly 20 million banking transactions daily. The move aims to improve scalability, security, and operational efficiency for the bank.

The implementation was completed with support from Temenos and Systems Limited using hybrid-cloud technology powered by Red Hat OpenShift.

HBL President and CEO Muhammad Nassir Salim called the development a major milestone in the bank’s digital transformation journey. He said the new system will help HBL launch products faster and improve customer services.

Temenos officials said replacing legacy banking systems with cloud-native technology will help HBL provide secure and innovative services to millions of users in Pakistan.

Banking experts believe this modernization project could strengthen Pakistan’s digital banking sector as more financial institutions move toward advanced cloud-based systems.
