The Punjab Finance Department has cleared Rs4 billion for CTI salaries and stipends, a step that brings the next round of College Teaching Interns (CTIs) closer to government colleges across the province. The money is meant to pay more than 9,000 interns once their induction is approved, making this one of the biggest temporary teaching intakes in Punjab’s college sector this year.

The main points about CTI salaries and the 2026-27 induction:
- Rs4 billion approved for CTI salaries and stipends.
- More than 9,000 College Teaching Interns proposed.
- Recruitment summary pending at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
- The monthly amount of CTI salaries for 2026-27 is not yet confirmed.
For candidates who have been waiting on the CTI Induction 2026-27, the approval matters because funding has usually been the last hurdle before hiring starts. With the finance side settled, the decision now rests with the Chief Minister’s Office.
What the Rs4 Billion Approval Means
According to a ProPakistani report published on 22 September 2026, the Finance Department has completed the financial arrangements for CTI salaries and stipends. The Higher Education Department (HED) has proposed the recruitment of more than 9,000 College Teaching Interns to cover teaching shortages in government colleges.
The HED summary for the recruitment is currently pending at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Once it is approved, the funds will be released to the Higher Education Department, and the placement process can move forward. No release date has been officially announced yet.
The official CTI portal run by the Punjab Information Technology Board, cti-hep.punjab.gov.pk, was showing 9,443 available jobs when we checked it on 29 September 2026. The portal also lists the eligibility criteria for the 2026-27 academic session:
- Age: maximum 40 years on the closing date of applications
- Associate colleges: Master’s degree or BS (four-year) with at least second division in the relevant subject
- Graduate colleges: MS or MPhil (relevant subject preferred) along with a Master’s or BS degree with at least second division
- Merit (100 marks): 85 for educational qualification, 10 for prior performance as a CTI in 2025-26, and 5 for interview
The portal also notes that the old slab system for semester or yearly marks has been replaced with percentage-based marks. On 17 August 2026, HED asked all candidates to log in and create or update their profiles before the induction, warning that only candidates with completed profiles would move to the next stage.
The monthly stipend for 2026-27 has not been confirmed in the reports we reviewed. Earlier coverage has quoted different figures. A TechJuice report from August 2026 said CTIs received Rs50,000 per month in the last two sessions, while an October 2025 report cited Rs65,000 for BS-level and Rs55,000 for intermediate-level interns. Until HED publishes the 2026-27 terms, candidates should treat any single figure with caution.
What CTI Candidates Should Do Now
The first step is to complete your profile on the official portal if you have not already done so. Profile completion is a requirement for the next phase, and HED has asked candidates not to delay it. Our CTI 2026-27 complete guide includes a quick eligibility checker and explains the merit formula in plain words.
Former interns should pay attention to the 10 marks for prior CTI performance. This follows the policy change we covered in our report on CTI contract extension and new hiring rules, under which interns with satisfactory evaluations can be retained without going through the full recruitment process again.
Candidates should also understand the scale. In the 2025-26 session, 8,084 CTIs were engaged, and 7,354 were engaged in 2024-25, according to TechJuice. The proposed intake of more than 9,000 would be higher than both, although the final number will depend on the approved summary and college-wise workload.
If you are unsure whether the college programme or the school programme suits you better, read our comparison of STI vs CTI. School-level interns should follow the separate STI contract extension update, since the two schemes are run by different departments.
Finally, do not pay anyone for “guaranteed” CTI placement. The official process runs only through cti-hep.punjab.gov.pk, and the HED helpline listed on the portal is 042-99212260.

The Rs4 billion approval confirms that funding for CTI salaries is in place. The recruitment summary, induction schedule and 2026-27 stipend still depend on official approval, so keep an eye on the HED portal and our latest education updates for the next step.
