KP Government Announces Hiring of 10,000 Contract School Teachers

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially approved the recruitment of more than 10,000 contract school teachers to address the increasing shortage of teaching staff in government schools across the province. This decision has been welcomed by parents, students, education activists, and unemployed educated youth who have been waiting for opportunities in the education sector.

Under the newly announced policy, primary school teachers will be hired on a temporary contract to ensure continuity of education in both settled and merged districts of KP. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and reducing classroom burden on existing teachers.

Transparent Hiring Through Talent Pool and Parent Teacher Councils

According to official information, the recruitment process will be strictly merit-based and transparent. The teachers will not be randomly appointed. Instead, hiring will be done through two main systems:

  • Selection through the Talent Pool
  • Final appointment through Parent Teacher Councils (PTCs)

The KP Education Department has issued clear instructions and policy guidelines. Schools facing severe teacher shortages will be prioritized to ensure that students in neglected areas also benefit.

PTCs will play a key role in:

  • Identifying school requirements
  • Supervising the hiring process
  • Monitoring teacher performance
  • Ensuring attendance and discipline

This community-involved model is expected to improve transparency and accountability in the education system.

Contract Duration for Summer and Winter Zones

The hiring policy has also categorized schools based on climatic zones of the province so that teaching activities continue smoothly without break.

For Summer Zone Schools

Teachers will serve:

  • 5 months
  • From January 16 to May 31

For Winter Zone Schools

Teachers will serve:

  • 4 months
  • From March 1 to June 30

This time-bound policy helps maintain education continuity while the government prepares long-term solutions, including permanent teacher recruitment plans in future phases.

Teachers to Be Hired in Settled Districts

In the settled districts of KP, the government plans to appoint 5,845 teachers.

Out of these:

  • 2,910 teachers will serve in boys’ schools
  • 2,935 teachers will serve in girls’ schools

This balance highlights the government’s equal attention toward both male and female education sectors.

District-Wise Hiring for Boys’ Schools (Settled Districts)

Teachers will be appointed in the following districts:

Abbottabad (202), Bannu (49), Battagram (97), Buner (20), Charsadda (241), Lower Chitral (19), Dera Ismail Khan (226), Lower Dir (78), Upper Dir (267), Hangu (3), Haripur (58), Karak (115), Kohat (34), Lower Kohistan (23), Upper Kohistan (16), Kolai Palas (2), Lakki Marwat (558), Malakand (66), Mansehra (351), Mardan (66), Nowshera (20), Shangla (46), Swabi (8), Swat (203), Tank (5), Torghar (34), and Upper Chitral (103).

Districts such as Lakki Marwat, Mansehra, Swat, Abbottabad, and Charsadda are receiving the highest number of male teachers, showing their high demand.

District-Wise Hiring for Girls’ Schools (Settled Districts)

For girls’ schools, recruitment will be made in:

Abbottabad (120), Bannu (280), Battagram (146), Buner (17), Charsadda (137), Lower Chitral (22), Dera Ismail Khan (167), Lower Dir (118), Upper Dir (53), Hangu (95), Haripur (128), Karak (106), Kohat (71), Lower Kohistan (111), Upper Kohistan (28), Kolai Palas (12), Lakki Marwat (268), Mansehra (314), Mardan (68), Nowshera (44), Peshawar (138), Shangla (106), Swabi (45), Swat (179), Tank (74), Torghar (71), and Upper Chitral (17).

This allocation especially benefits areas where girls’ education needs more support and teaching staff.

Hiring in Merged Districts

A major portion of the recruitment plan focuses on the merged tribal districts, where schools have long suffered from lack of teachers. The KP government has approved 4,229 teacher appointments in merged districts.

Boys’ Schools Hiring in Merged Districts

Teachers will be recruited in:

Bajaur (11), Khyber (110), Kurram (25), North Waziristan (19), Orakzai (2), Bhittani subdivision Lakki Marwat (18), Darazinda subdivision Dera Ismail Khan (19), Darra Adam Khel subdivision Kohat (105), Hassan Khel subdivision Peshawar (69), and South Waziristan Upper (14).

Although the numbers are limited compared to settled districts, they are crucial for keeping schools functioning.

Girls’ Schools Hiring in Merged Districts

A major share of recruitment in merged districts is dedicated to girls’ schools:

Bajaur (204), Khyber (597), Kurram (184), Mohmand (339), North Waziristan (780), Orakzai (401), Bhittani subdivision Lakki Marwat (10), Darazinda subdivision Dera Ismail Khan (35), Darra Adam Khel subdivision Kohat (59), Hassan Khel subdivision Peshawar (129), Jandola subdivision Tank (225), Wazir subdivision Bannu (446), South Waziristan Lower (131), and South Waziristan Upper (297).

This reflects a strong commitment to promoting girls’ education in areas that have long faced educational challenges.

Total Teachers to Be Appointed

Under this initiative, a total of:

  • 10,074 contract primary teachers

will be recruited across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

These include teachers for both boys’ and girls’ schools in settled as well as merged districts.

Why This Recruitment Matters

This large-scale hiring is highly important for several reasons:

  • Many schools currently lack sufficient teaching staff
  • Student learning has suffered due to empty classrooms
  • Teachers are overloaded with multiple classes
  • Dropout rates risk increasing without teachers
  • Parents and communities have been demanding staff for years
  • Youth unemployed in education sector will get opportunities

With more teachers, students will get better attention, improved learning environment, and stronger academic performance.

Expected Benefits for Education System

This recruitment policy is expected to bring multiple benefits:

  • Better classroom management
  • Reduced student-teacher ratio
  • Improved attendance and learning outcomes
  • Strengthened girls’ education in remote regions
  • Community involvement through PTC monitoring
  • Stability in primary education

Parents are hopeful that this initiative will deliver long-awaited relief and support quality education across the province.

Conclusion – KP Government Announces Hiring of 10,000 Contract School Teachers

The KP Government’s decision to hire over 10,000 contract school teachers is a major step toward improving the education system. With transparent recruitment through Talent Pool and PTCs, district-wise fair distribution, and dedicated focus on both settled and merged districts, the move aims to stabilize teaching services and ensure that no child is deprived of education due to lack of teachers.

If implemented effectively, this policy will not only support thousands of students but also strengthen the future of education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
