Suzuki has launched its Pakistan-manufactured Alto and Every models in Brunei, marking the first time the company has exported mini-vehicles built to Japanese kei-car specifications from an overseas plant.
The vehicles are produced by Pak Suzuki Motor Company and are being distributed in Brunei by Boustead Sdn. Bhd. The launch event was held at the Airport Mall Atrium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei’s capital, on August 27, 2026, and drew around 120 attendees.
A Milestone Export and a Golden Anniversary
The launch carried extra significance as it doubled as a celebration of Boustead’s 50th anniversary as a Suzuki distributor in Brunei, tying a long-standing partnership to a new chapter built around Pakistani manufacturing.
Notable attendees included Yutaka Kikuta, Japan’s Ambassador to Brunei; Lim Jin Lee, Executive Manager at Boustead; Masafumi Harano, Suzuki’s Managing Officer for Automobile Marketing across Asia, Latin America, and Oceania; and Takashi Ise, Managing Officer for Motorcycle Operations.
More Suzuki Models on the Way
Alongside the Alto and Every launch, Suzuki also outlined plans to bring several of its motorcycles, including the Hayabusa, GSX-S1000GX, and GSX-8R, to the Brunei market around autumn 2026.
The Alto and Every join an existing Suzuki lineup already available in Brunei, which includes the Jimny 3-Door, Jimny 5-Door, Ertiga, and Fronx, giving Boustead a broader range of vehicles to offer local buyers.
A Vote of Confidence for Pakistani Manufacturing
For Pak Suzuki, the export represents a notable vote of confidence in Pakistan’s manufacturing capability, since kei-car-spec vehicles are built to strict Japanese standards typically associated with production inside Japan itself. The move could open the door to further export opportunities for Pakistan’s auto sector if the Brunei launch proves successful.
