Laldin Motors has unveiled the KP1, a new 200cc rickshaw that brings modern features rarely seen in Pakistan’s three-wheeler market. Showcased at the Pakistan Auto Show, the KP1 comes with a reverse camera, a fully digital dashboard, disc brakes on all three wheels and a liquid-cooled engine, making it one of the most advanced auto-rickshaws ever offered locally.
The KP1 has been developed in collaboration with Chinese engineering partners, while its body is manufactured in Pakistan. Its design takes inspiration from the tuk-tuks used in international markets, and the company says it wants to change the image of the traditional rickshaw by offering better comfort, safety and durability.
The chassis and sheet-metal body are locally pressed, welded and assembled using modern methods. Laldin Motors uses an Electro-Deposition (ED) coating process before painting, which it says provides much better rust protection than normal spray painting. According to Irfan from Laldin Motors, this treatment should give the rickshaw a structural life of around eight to ten years without rust.
Unlike some lightweight three-wheelers that use plastic panels, the KP1 has a full sheet-metal body. It also gets LED headlights with built-in parking lights and LED taillights. The roll cage is fixed, but the outer fabric roof can be removed to give the rickshaw an open-air look.
200cc Rickshaw Safety, Comfort and Features
Laldin has replaced the old rigid rear axle and leaf-spring setup with an independent rear suspension that uses coilover shocks, a sway bar and drive shafts. This should make the ride noticeably smoother on Pakistan’s uneven roads. The KP1 also has disc brakes on all three wheels, with a Combined Braking System that spreads braking force across the wheels through a single foot pedal.
A factory-fitted reverse camera is mounted on the lower rear bumper to help drivers while parking and reversing. The rear passenger bench has deeper cushioning and a reclined backrest, while the driver gets a wider seat with a high backrest to reduce tiredness during long shifts. The digital instrument cluster shows speed, engine RPM, fuel level and engine temperature.
Other features include USB multimedia connectivity, mobile charging ports, an automatic windshield wiper and a manual fan override switch that provides extra cooling in heavy traffic. These additions make the KP1 feel more like a small car than a basic rickshaw.
Laldin KP1 Engine, Price and Booking
The KP1 is powered by a 200cc water-cooled engine with a radiator, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and a dedicated reverse gear. Liquid cooling should help the engine handle long hours in hot weather better than the air-cooled engines used in most rickshaws in the country.
Laldin Motors expects the KP1 to be priced between Rs. 650,000 and Rs. 700,000. The company says its production line is ready and bookings are now open for customers. Elsewhere in the auto industry, global brands are also revealing new models, such as the all-new Hyundai Tucson 2027, showing growing activity in the automotive sector.
For rickshaw owners and fleet operators, the KP1 offers a mix of comfort, safety and durability that could justify its higher price compared with basic models. If the company delivers on its promises of reliability and after-sales support, the KP1 could become a popular choice for drivers looking to upgrade their vehicles.
