The Ministry of Information Technology has announced the registration procedure for the Prime Minister’s Special Petrol Relief Scheme, offering eligible citizens a discount of Rs. 100 per litre on petrol.
Who Qualifies and How Much Fuel Is Covered
The ministry has developed an automated digital system in collaboration with NADRA, telecom operators and provincial departments to manage registration and verification. Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will be eligible for subsidized petrol. Motorcycle and Qingqi rickshaw owners can receive discounted petrol for up to 20 litres per month, while owners of vehicles up to 800cc are eligible for a monthly limit of 30 litres. Vehicles will be verified through an automated system connected with provincial transport and excise departments.
How to Register and Claim the Discount
To register, citizens must send an SMS from a SIM registered in their own name, including their CNIC number, vehicle number, provincial code and registration date. Applicants will receive a confirmation message once registration is successful. Before visiting a petrol pump, registered citizens need to send “TOK” to 9771 and show the resulting token at the station to receive discounted fuel. Supply of discounted petrol in Islamabad is set to begin between Monday and Tuesday midnight, with nationwide distribution starting between Wednesday and Thursday midnight.
