In one of his final acts before leaving office, outgoing Islamabad Police chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has approved the promotion of 125 officers and personnel across multiple ranks, a move the force describes as part of its ongoing commitment to merit-based career progression.

According to a police spokesperson, the promotions span three tiers: 12 Sub-Inspectors moved up to Inspector, 9 Assistant Sub-Inspectors advanced to Sub-Inspector, and the largest group, 105 Head Constables, were elevated to Assistant Sub-Inspector. Officials say the decisions were based on merit, performance records and length of service rather than seniority alone, and formal notifications for all 125 cases have already been issued.
