BISE Lahore digital exams are no longer just an idea. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has announced that it plans to hold four annual matriculation and intermediate examinations through a digital system. Chairman Professor Badrul Salam shared the plan at a press conference on examination reforms, saying the board has already completed a trial of digital marking and is now preparing students for the change.

Breaking News: BISE Lahore Digital Exams Coming – 4 Annual Matric & Inter Exams to Go Digital

This is one of the biggest reforms in the examination system of Punjab in recent years. It will affect lakhs of matric and inter students, their parents, teachers who check papers, and the staff of examination centres. In this article we explain what has been announced, how the digital exam system is expected to work, and what students and teachers should do to get ready.

What Did BISE Lahore Announce?

According to the chairman, the board has completed its preparations for digital examinations at examination centres and colleges. The key points of the announcement are:

  • Four annual matric and inter exams are planned to be conducted through a digital system.
  • A trial of digital (online) marking of answer sheets has been completed successfully.
  • A pilot test with 500 students has already been held.
  • A mock test for 3,000 candidates will be conducted next.
  • Students are being briefed about the process and examiners are being trained in online marking.

Controller of Examinations Tauseef ur Rehman, State Officer Shehzad-ul-Hassan and PRO Tahir Javed were also present at the briefing.

How Will BISE Lahore Digital Exams Work?

The board has not yet issued a full rulebook, but the steps shared so far show a gradual shift. First, answer sheets are scanned and marked on screen by trained examiners instead of being checked by hand in marking centres. This reduces the chance of lost papers, totalling mistakes and delays in results.

Second, the board is testing computer-based examinations in a controlled way, starting with small pilot groups and moving to a larger mock test. Only after these trials will the system be used in the actual annual exams.

Benefits of Digital Marking

  • Faster results because scanned copies can be checked at the same time by many examiners.
  • More transparency as every step of marking is recorded.
  • Fewer human errors in totalling and posting of marks.
  • Easier rechecking since the scanned copy is always available.

7% Improvement in First-Year Results

During the same briefing, the chairman reported a 7% improvement in first-year results. He said the increase was not limited to Lahore and was seen across Punjab’s educational boards. Many teachers believe that better paper patterns and closer monitoring have helped students perform better this year.

What This Means for Matric and Inter Students

For students, the most important thing is not to panic. The board says it is informing candidates about the digital examination process step by step. Students should:

  • Follow official notices of BISE Lahore regularly.
  • Practise writing clearly and within the given spaces, as scanned answers must be readable.
  • Get basic computer skills, as some parts of exams may move to screens in future.
  • Take part in mock tests if their institution is selected.

What Teachers and Examiners Should Know

Teachers who work as paper checkers will need training in online marking. The board has already started this training. School and college teachers should also prepare students for any new answer-sheet format and explain the importance of neat handwriting and correct question numbering.

Challenges Ahead

A digital system needs reliable electricity, internet and trained staff at every centre. Rural centres may face more difficulties. Data security and fair access for students with less computer exposure will also need attention. The pilot and mock tests are meant to find and fix such problems before the full launch.
