Hyundai has unveiled the fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson 2027, giving its popular compact SUV the biggest overhaul in six years. The new model is larger and boxier than before, comes with a completely redesigned cabin and puts much greater focus on hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The Tucson and Tucson Hybrid will start reaching the first markets in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a wider international rollout planned throughout 2027. South Korea will be among the first countries to get the SUV. Hyundai has not yet announced pricing or exact launch dates for most markets, including Pakistan.

The new Tucson is 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. Compared with the outgoing model, it is 60 mm longer, 40 mm wider and 20 mm taller, while the wheelbase has grown by 30 mm. Hyundai says these bigger dimensions translate into more space for passengers, with rear headroom increasing by 29 mm and the rear doors now opening to 83 degrees instead of 73 degrees.

New Hyundai Tucson 2027 Design and Interior

Hyundai calls its new styling language “Art of Steel”. The SUV moves away from the sharp creases and geometric surfaces of the previous generation in favour of a straighter, squarer and more upright body. The brand’s signature H-shaped lighting remains at the front, but the overall profile now looks more like a traditional SUV.

Buyers will be able to choose from eight exterior colours, including five new shades: Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Gray Matte, Driftwood Gray Metallic, Redrock Orange Matte and Quiet Copper Pearl. The rugged-looking Tucson XRT also returns with a larger grille, black trim, wheel-arch cladding, black wheels, a dedicated rear bumper with skid plate and XRT badges, although it remains a styling package rather than a hardcore off-roader.

Inside, the flowing dashboard of the old model has been replaced with a straight, horizontal layout. A large portrait-style touchscreen runs Hyundai’s new Pleos infotainment system, and the SUV gets a squared-off two-spoke steering wheel and a floating centre console. Horizontal ambient lighting runs across the dashboard, and higher trims will feature wood trim. The XRT adds patterned seats, dark-metal trim, orange stitching and protective floor mats.

Hybrid Engines and Pakistan Launch Prospects

Electrification is the biggest mechanical change. Hyundai has confirmed an updated 1.6-litre turbo hybrid as the core powertrain for global markets. A plug-in hybrid version is also planned, with the company targeting an electric-only driving range of around 100 km. A petrol-only version is expected in selected markets, while a high-performance Tucson N has not been officially confirmed.

Several details are still unknown, including final power outputs, the PHEV battery size, charging specifications, the full petrol engine line-up and complete safety equipment. Hyundai is expected to share these details closer to the market launch dates.

In Pakistan, Hyundai Nishat currently sells the Tucson locally, and the SUV has been one of the most popular models in the compact crossover segment. The company has not announced when the new generation will arrive here, but the growing focus on hybrid technology could make the 2027 Tucson an attractive option for Pakistani buyers dealing with high fuel prices. Until official plans are revealed, the current model will continue to be sold in the local market.
