President Zardari Directs Govt to Reduce Inflation Pressure Amid Rising Fuel Prices

Asif Ali Zardari has directed the government to take all possible measures to reduce inflationary pressure on the public as rising fuel prices continue affecting Pakistan’s economy.

The directive was issued during a meeting with Shehbaz Sharif at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.

Senior government officials including Ishaq Dar, Ayaz Sadiq, Mohsin Naqvi, and Azam Nazeer Tarar also attended the meeting.

According to an official statement, President Zardari instructed authorities to ensure the availability of essential goods and maximize relief for ordinary citizens.

He said the government should continue efforts to support the public despite regional tensions, global supply chain disruptions, and economic challenges linked to Middle East instability.

The meeting also reviewed the overall national situation, including developments related to Afghanistan and changing regional conditions.

Participants reportedly paid tribute to the martyrs of last year’s conflict with India and reaffirmed support for Pakistan’s national defence and armed forces.

The president’s remarks came shortly after the government increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs. 15 per litre for the second time this month.

Economic experts warn that higher fuel prices may increase transportation costs, inflation, agricultural expenses, and fertilizer prices across the country.

High-speed diesel is widely used in farming and transport sectors, making fuel price hikes particularly important during the crop sowing season.

Meanwhile, global oil markets remain volatile because of tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and instability in the Gulf region.

The latest developments have become a major topic online as users search for petrol price Pakistan, inflation updates, fuel price hike, and Pakistan economic news.
